Charity Shop Manager

Refugease, Vintage Emporiums (Maidstone)

Hours: 5–6 days per week (including Saturdays) - temporary role (3-6 months)

This role will firstly be temporary, focused on managing our fast and friendly CLOSING DOWN SALE.
Throughout that process, we hope to find a way to keep the shop open, in that case the role would be longer term.

About the shop

This is a fast-moving, low-priced charity shop that exists to do two things well:
1. Serve the local community with affordable, everyday items
2. Raise vital funds for Refugease’s humanitarian work in crisis zones worldwide

>> Think honest, practical, busy, and cheerful treasure trove: Not boutique. Not precious. Not complicated.

The role
We’re looking for a hands-on, hardworking Shop Manager who believes in:
>clear but fun pricing structures (regular blanket reductions, big sales, visible posters)
>fairness
>teamwork
>transparency
getting stock out quickly, not sitting on it!
You’ll be responsible for:
running the shop day-to-day
implementing sales
pricing stock clearly and consistently
working closely with volunteers
keeping the shop organised, welcoming, and efficient
following simple systems so everyone knows where they stand

What we’re looking for
This role is a good fit if you are:
-practical and reliable
-comfortable with clear systems
-collaborative yet independent
-honest and straightforward
-happy in a busy, community-focused environment
-motivated by purpose rather than ego
A transparent, team-first attitude is essential, we cannot stress this enough!
Additional details
5 days per week (including Saturdays), potential for you to work 6 days!
In-person role at our Maidstone shop in the Mall.
You must be able to commute reliably or relocate before starting

Why join?
You have several years experience in retail, and/or charity shop management, and want a fun, rewarding new challenge!
Be part of a fun, low-priced, creative venture that exists to fund life-saving missions on some of the most volatile and precarious locations in the world.
If you like rolling up your sleeves, working as part of a team, and running a shop that’s open, fair, and community-focused, we’d so love to hear from you!
